Carrefour launches new store format in UAE

Carrefour has unveiled its first next-generation supermarket in Dubai, catering to shoppers who value a wide selection of fresh produce, premium products, and high-quality service. The new store opened at Jumeirah Park Centre and marks the first location in Carrefour's modernization program across the UAE.

The project was implemented by Majid Al Futtaim, which holds exclusive rights to operate the Carrefour brand in the country. This format is planned for rollout in other retail locations throughout 2026.

A modern concept with a focus on fresh produce

The new supermarket spans approximately 2,200 square meters. When developing the concept, particular attention was paid to changing consumer habits, including the growing demand for quality products, ready-made meals, and a comfortable shopping experience.

Today, fresh and ready-to-eat products occupy 38% of the retail space, whereas in traditional Carrefour Market stores, this figure is around 25%.

According to the company, these changes reflect growing consumer interest in healthy eating, fresh ingredients, and convenient solutions for daily meals.

The First BakeHouse Café

One of the key features of the new store is the opening of the first branded BakeHouse Café.

Visitors can enjoy:

  • fresh pastries;
  • signature coffee drinks;
  • light meals and snacks.

Carrefour expects the café to become an additional draw for local residents, and the supermarket itself to serve not only a retail function but also a community one.

Over 900 new product lines

The new concept includes a significant expansion of the product range.

The store features:

  • over 900 new products;
  • more than 300 imported food products.

Additionally, several popular categories have been expanded:

  • Fresh Market department;
  • health and beauty products;
  • a specialized K-Beauty zone featuring Korean cosmetics;
  • pet supplies.

The Food-for-Now gastronomic department has also opened, offering ready-to-eat meals for customers seeking a quick and convenient dining option.

The premium segment continues to grow

The launch of the new format reflects the sustained growth in demand for quality products, international brands, and a higher level of service in the UAE retail sector.

Despite shifts in consumer spending in recent years, major retailers continue to invest in developing modern retail concepts that combine a wide assortment, convenience, and additional services.

The opening ceremony was attended by Ahmed Galal Ismail, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Holding, as well as representatives from the company's management and Dubai Holding, underscoring the project's significance for the network's future development.

Supermarkets become part of the urban environment

Modern grocery stores in Dubai are gradually transforming into multifunctional spaces that combine shopping, gastronomy, and everyday leisure.

In addition to traditional retail areas, such establishments increasingly feature:

  • cafes;
  • ready-to-eat food zones;
  • specialized departments;
  • an expanded range of international products.

This approach aligns with global retail development trends, which prioritize customer convenience and the creation of a comfortable urban environment.

Carrefour's modernization program continues

The new store at Jumeirah Park Centre marks the first phase of Carrefour's extensive renovation program in the UAE.

Throughout 2026, the company plans to continue expanding its network, focusing on:

  • modernization of existing stores;
  • improving customer service;
  • expanding the product range;
  • development of Carrefour Market and hypermarket formats.

The choice of Jumeirah Park for launching the new concept is linked to the high purchasing activity of local residents. The store layout and product range were developed considering the specific demand characteristics of this location.

What this means for Dubai's real estate market

The development of modern retail infrastructure remains a key factor in enhancing the attractiveness of Dubai's residential areas. The emergence of new-generation stores, restaurants, cafes, and quality services makes residents' daily lives more comfortable and contributes to the further development of local communities.

For real estate buyers, the presence of well-developed infrastructure near home is one of the important criteria when choosing a property. This is why such projects not only improve the quality of the urban environment but also support the long-term attractiveness of residential areas for living and investment.
