Dubai launches first dedicated charging hub for electric taxi fleet

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), in partnership with the Dubai Taxi Company (DTC), has commissioned the first dedicated ultra-fast charging complex for electric taxis. This new facility marks the first phase of a large-scale project to develop charging infrastructure exclusively for DTC’s electric vehicles.

The charging hub is located at the Dubai Taxi Company headquarters in Muhaisnah 4. The complex is equipped with 24 ultra-fast 360 kW chargers, allowing for the simultaneous servicing of dozens of vehicles.

Over 200 charging stations as part of a long-term project

The opening of the complex is part of a strategic agreement between DEWA and the Dubai Taxi Company, signed during WETEX 2025.

The agreement outlines the creation of a network comprising over 200 ultra-fast charging stations for the DTC electric taxi fleet. The project aims to develop sustainable transport infrastructure and support the ongoing electrification of urban transit.

The first commissioned complex can charge 24 vehicles simultaneously. A full charge cycle takes approximately 35 minutes, which helps reduce vehicle downtime and increases the operational efficiency of the electric taxi fleet.

Developing a sustainable transport system

According to Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, the project aligns with the goals of the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.

He noted that the development of a modern charging station network contributes to increasing the number of electric vehicles in the emirate, reducing carbon emissions, and improving the quality of the urban environment.

It was also emphasized that collaboration between the energy and transport sectors enables the creation of modern infrastructure that meets international standards and supports Dubai's long-term sustainable development strategy.

Dubai Taxi Company continues to electrify its fleet

Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Kalbat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Taxi Company, noted that the joint project with DEWA is a key element of the company's strategy to develop innovative mobility.

According to him, the creation of specialized infrastructure accelerates the transition to eco-friendly transport and forms the foundation for the further expansion of the electric vehicle fleet.

DTC Group CEO Mansoor Rahma Al Falasi added that the new charging complex is the first stage of a large-scale network that will eventually integrate over 200 charging stations dedicated exclusively to servicing the company's vehicles.

As the infrastructure expands, the operational efficiency of electric vehicles will improve, their availability on the road will increase, and the quality of transport services for Dubai's residents and visitors will be enhanced.

What the project means for the city's development

The development of charging infrastructure is becoming a key component of Dubai's transport strategy. Creating specialized complexes for electric transport helps accelerate the transition to sustainable modes of travel and shapes a modern urban environment.

Such projects have a positive impact not only on the transport industry but also on the emirate's investment appeal. Developed infrastructure, the adoption of innovative technologies, and the consistent implementation of sustainable development programs make Dubai an even more comfortable city for living, doing business, and long-term real estate investment.

Dubai continues to develop the infrastructure of the future

The launch of the first specialized ultra-fast charging complex for electric taxis reaffirms Dubai's commitment to developing smart urban infrastructure and eco-friendly transportation.

The expansion of the charging station network, the growing number of electric vehicles, and the implementation of long-term government programs are creating the conditions for sustainable urban development and strengthening the emirate's position as a global leader in innovation, technology, and modern mobility.
