The UAE has completed the construction of the first passenger station in the Etihad Rail national railway network. It is located in the Emirate of Fujairah and will be part of the first phase of launching passenger trains between Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the country's east coast.
Where is the new station
The station is located in the Sakamkam district of Fujairah, near Al Hilal City.
During the official visit, the facility was inspected by:
- Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, ruler of Fujairah
- Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah
- Etihad Rail Chairman Sheikh Tayab bin Mohammed
The published footage showed:

When will passenger trains be launched
Etihad Rail has previously confirmed that passenger traffic will start in 2026.
At the first stage, the network will connect:

- Fujairah
So far, the exact launch date and schedule have not been announced.
How long will the trip take
Expected travel time:
- Abu Dhabi to Dubai: about 1 hour
- Abu Dhabi to Fujairah: about 90 minutes
The route should significantly reduce travel time between the emirates and facilitate access to the country's east coast.
Which stations will open first
In addition to Fujairah, the first phase of the project will include the following stations:
- Mohamed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi
- Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai
The construction of the remaining facilities continues.
What we know about the entire Etihad Rail network
In the future, Etihad Rail's passenger network should cover the entire country.
At the moment, the following have been announced:
- 11 passenger stations
- phased launch
- integration with the existing transport system
A separate high-speed line project between Abu Dhabi and Dubai was also previously presented, which should reduce the journey time to 30 minutes.
Why the project is important for the UAE
Etihad Rail is considered one of the country's largest infrastructure projects.
The railway network should:
- unload highways
- improve inter-Emirati communication
- support domestic tourism
- facilitate daily travel between cities
Special attention is paid to the development of new areas around future stations and transport hubs.
