The famous Dubai Fountain in the heart of Dubai is getting ready to surprise visitors with a new look. Tall, mirrored structures with cascading water are being installed in Burj Lake, located between the Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall. These unusual structures have already caught the attention of residents and tourists, though their final purpose has not yet been officially revealed.
The work is part of a large-scale renovation of the landmark, which developer Emaar began in 2025.
What has appeared near the Dubai Fountain
Several tall, metallic structures with reflective surfaces are being installed in the waters of Burj Lake.
Their design resembles curved petals, from which streams of water flow back into the lake.
Thanks to the mirrored finish, the structures reflect the surrounding buildings and create a unique visual effect against the backdrop of the Burj Khalifa.
Installation is not yet complete. Published footage shows workers, equipment, and ongoing finishing work.
Part of the promenade is temporarily fenced off, but the main Dubai Fountain shows are continuing as scheduled.
Emaar continues the large-scale renovation of the Dubai Fountain
The appearance of the new structures coincides with the latest phase of the famous fountain's modernization.
In 2025, the Dubai Fountain was closed for five months for repairs. The landmark reopened to visitors in October of that same year.
The first phase of the renovation included replacing the tiling, waterproofing, and repainting the structures. The work was aimed at improving the fountain's appearance and increasing its operational reliability.
Previously, the developer Emaar has announced a second phase of upgrades for 2026, which includes introducing new features and enhancing the visitor experience.
However, it has not yet been officially confirmed whether the newly appeared silver structures are part of this program.
Also, there is no information yet regarding the name of the project developer or the completion date for the installation..
The Dubai Fountain: one of the emirate's top attractions
The Dubai Fountain opened in 2009 and has become one of Dubai's most iconic tourist landmarks.
The project was developed by Emaar and designed by the American company WET Design, known for creating the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas.
The main feature of the Dubai Fountain is its large-scale water performances synchronized with music and lighting.
Water jets reach heights of approximately 140 meters, and the musical accompaniment includes both Arabic and international compositions.
The fountain is located in Downtown Dubai, next to the Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall.
Dubai Fountain show schedule
Despite the ongoing work, visitors can still enjoy the regular water performances.
According to the schedule published by Emaar, evening shows take place every 30 minutes from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
Daytime performances are also available.
As part of the promenade is temporarily closed for construction, access to certain areas may be restricted.
What will change after the work is completed
New mirrored structures have already become a prominent feature of the space around Burj Lake.
However,Emaar has not yet provided official details regarding their purpose or the project's completion timeline..
Therefore, it is premature to discuss the specific format of future performances or additional functions for the installations.
For now, the Dubai Fountain remains open to visitors, with work on the new water features taking place alongside the ongoing shows.
